Description

Nine lessons, 2 hours 27 minutes, taught by Jimbo Bernaus — a lettering artist and illustrator from Barcelona and co-founder of Shoutbam. You build one poster end to end, NUIT CLAIRE, and you keep the system that made it.

Jimbo starts by designing a lettering system: the guidelines, then the width, weight, contrast and serif that every letter in the piece will share. You draw the first word, then the second, then refine both with the monoline. From there the illustration goes around the type — a frame, a moon and floral ornaments built with Procreate's quadrant and vertical symmetry — before colour, a retro noise texture and the final details.

You will need an iPad, a stylus and Procreate. Texture brushes, colour palettes and Jimbo's own Art Nouveau reference board are included in the class resources.
